Gymnastics Loses Tight Match to Defending D-III Champs

Hamline's gymnastics team threw a scare into the defending D-III champs from Wisconsin-Whitewater before dropping a 186.850-185.175 decision Sunday at Walker Field House. Caitlin Cooper was second in the All-Around with a score of 36.625 to lead the Pipers. Cooper, a sophomore, was sixth on the Balance Beam, seventh on the Floor Exercise, ninth on the Uneven Parallel Bars and 11th in Floor Exercise. 

Sydney Tribbet had the highest score -- and finish -- on the day. The senior had a pair of second place finishes. Her 9.700 on the Floor Exercise was the best HU score of the day. She was also second on the Vault with a 9.450. Rosie Giese was third in that event (9.425). Alyssa Huch took third on the Uneven Parallel Bars (9.400) as did Lydia Ingram on the Balance Beam (9.400) and Darby Slater on Floor Exercise (9.650).

Hamline is back at Walker on Friday, January 19 to face Wisconsin-La Crosse. The meet begins at 6:30 p.m.
