Women's TF Grabs Three Firsts at UnSaintly Meet

5/6/2017 6:57:00 PM

If the performance at the Meet of the UnSaintly is any indication, Hamline's women's track/field team doesn't intend to be amiable hosts at next weekend's MIAC Championships. The Pipers warmed up for next week's meet -- which, like this one, will be at Klas Field, with three victories and a slew of top three finishes. It may have been a nonscoring meet but HU left a distinct impression on all who were there.

For example, Danielle Zwiefelhofer led a 1-2 finish in the Triple Jump, flying 35-7.25 feet. Mikayla Hensch was right behind here in second at 33-6. Gabby Koel continued to throw the Discus well, winning with a 144-05 effort while Jessie Juenemann was third at 133-11. (Koel was also second in the Shot Put, one place ahead of Juenemann.) The 4 x 400 relay team of Kristy Dellwo, Emily Lincoln, Izzy Shafer and Briana Berninghaus also finished in front with a 4:07.07 clocking. Gabrielle Brown and Anna Futterer went 2-3 in the 100 Meters and Abigail Van Goethem continued her impressive freshman season with a third place in the 400 Hurdles. Meg Griffin (pictured) hung tough for a third place standing in the grueling 3000 Meter Steeplechase.

Briana Berninghaus was fourth in the 200 and fifth in the 100 Meter races. In both cases, she was the second fastest D-III runner.

All in all, it was a terrific dress rehearsal for the Real Thing next weekend.
