It was a long time coming ... but it was well worth the wait. Hamline's gymnastics team opened the 2017 home schedule at Walker Field House in happy fashion Friday night with their first dual meet win of the season -- a 183.100-181.800 verdict over Wis-Eau Claire.
The Pipers won three of the four competitions, edging out the BluGolds in the Vault 46.225-44.95, on the Balance Beam by 47.075-45.100 and by the slimmest of margins on the Floor Exercise (46.600-46.525).
Lydia Ingram continued her impressive start to college career with a win on the Balance Beam. The Oregon City, Ore. native scored 9.725, just ahead of teammate
Meghan Webb, who came in at 9.600.
Caitlin Cooper, also a freshman. conquered the field in the vault, finishing with a 9.400 score.
Rosie Giese was in a tie for second at 9.325.
Darby Slater and
Sydney Tribbett tied for second in the Floor Exercise with a 9.45 score.
Hamline travels to St. Peter to take on Gustavus Adolphus on Friday, February 10. The meet begins at 7:00 p.m.
