The Hamline women's track/field team continued their excellent indoor adventure with their third win of the season Saturday at the Meet of Hearts event held at Carleton College in Northfield. The Pipers' 169 total points bested St. Olaf (144) and the host school (142.50). Wis-River Falls, Gustavus Adolphus, St. Catherine and Bethany Lutheran also competed.

HU claimed five victories on the day. Briana Berninghaus zipped away from the field in the 200 Meters. Her time of 26.65 seconds matched her career best and is the seventh fastest time noted in the MIAC this year. The Montgomery, Minn. native broke a six year old school record when she ran 7.36 seconds in the 55 Meters to finish in third place. Izzy Shafer was third in the same event (26.97). Gabrielle Brown flew to victory in the 55 Hurdles in 8.43 seconds. HU got field wins from Kiana Verdugo with a 14.49 m throw -- the fourth best throw in the MIAC this season. Gabby Koel topped the Shot Put field with a 11.93m effort and Danielle Zwiefelhofer was tops in the Long Jump at 4.94m. The junior was third in the Triple Jump at 9.95m, right behind freshman Abigail Van Goethem (10.40m).

Other notable efforts included: Kristy Dellwo (2nd, 600 Meters, 1:43.81), Alyssa Nash (2nd, 1000 Meters, 3:10.01), Holly Hankins (Mile, 5:13.60), Shafer (3rd, 400 Meters, 59.90) and the 4 x 200 and 4 x 400 relay teams, who finished second as well.

HU has one last warmup before the MIAC meet later this month. The Pipers will be back in Northfield on February 18 for a meet at St. Olaf.
