M Track/Field Wins Pair of Events at Carleton Meet

Hamline's men's track/field team won two events and set a school record en route to a fourth place finish at the Meet of Hearts held at Carleton College in Northfield, Feb. 11. 

Chase Duwenhoegger won the Shot Put with a throw of 15.99 m. Jake Carlson, a freshman gave HU a win when when he went 6.23m to claim the top spot in the Long Jump. Isaac Krause's second place finish in the 600 Meters set a school record when he finished in 1:21.27 breaking Will Warmka's 2015 standard of 1:21.93. The Pipers also received  a second place effort from Frank Gustafson in the 1000 Meter Run. (The freshman's time of 2:40.38 was a mere 1.12 seconds behind the winner -- Carleton's Jacob Bransky) and Eric Dols  in the Weight Throw (17.09m). 

Thane Widmer came in third in the 400 Meters in 52.34 seconds. HU also got third place efforts from Jordan Lein in the 55 Meters (6.6.57 seconds) and Travis Jacobson in the Weight Throw (16.16m). 

Hamline's total of 140 points trailed Carleton, Gustavus Adolphus and Wis-River Falls. The Pipers finished well in front of Bethany Lutheran, North Central and Crown.

The Pipers have one last warmup before the MIAC meet at the end of the month. They will compete at St. Olaf on February 18.
