1/8/2017 3:11:00 PM

It didn't count for anything officially. But the Hamline gymnastics team had several things to smile about with a pair of sixth place efforts and eight Top Ten finishes in a meet against D-I Central Michigan and conference foe Wis-Eau Claire Sunday in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.

Meghan Webb, a sophomore, and Sydney Tribbet, a junior each had two such finishes. The New Yorker was sixth in the Balance Beam (9.50) and ninth in the Vault with a 9.475 score. Rosie Giese, also a sophomore, had the other sixth place ending in the Vault (9.525). Giese narrowly missed a second Top Ten effort with a 11th place showing in the Bars.

Tribbet came in directly behind Giese in the Vault with a 9.475 score. Lydia Ingram made an impressive debut for a freshman, placing eighth in the Bars (9.200). The Pipers also had an 8-9-10 finish in the Floor. Alexa Vonderbruggen, a junior, led with a 9.700 score followed closely by Tribbet (9.675) and soph Darby Slater (9.600).

For the meet, HU totaled 183.875 points. The host Chippewas were first (192.075) and the Blugolds were second (188.700).
