5/14/2016 9:32:00 PM

The Hamline men's track and field team claimed four titles – two on the track and two in the field – on the final day of the MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Clemens Stadium in Collegeville.

The four-pack of wins helped the Pipers to a total of 108.5 points and a solid third place finish.

Dylan Olson (pictured) beat back the field in the 110 Hurdles. The sophomore's time of 14.85 seconds was his fastest of the year and bested the field by half a second.  Ryan Peterson went the long distance route – 3000 Meter Steeplechase, to be precise – for his title. The senior splashed his way to a 9:28.34 clocking, a full six seconds ahead of the pack.  Later, Peterson joined up with Chris Lagergren, Isaac Krause and Nathaniel Jacobson for a third place finish in the 4 x 800 Relay.

HU dominated the Discus, taking three of the top four spots. Chase Duwenhoegger won it with a 153-5 throw with Anthony Tyler, who took this event last year, a close second at 153-1. Mitchell Maday had an impressive freshman effort with 144-9 for fourth place.  Bakari Jackson, another impressive freshman, provided the fourth title with a career best 46-9 ½ performance in the Triple Jump.  Jackson, who also won the indoor title in this event, defeated last year's champ, St. John's Raymond Twumasi by half a foot.

There were other impressive efforts as well. HU got points from Sam Gatton, who was fourth in the 400 Hurdles and eighth in the High Jump, Krause's fifth place showing in the 800 Meters, Tom Larson's sixth place standing in the 200 Meters, James Logan's seventh place clocking the 5000 Meters and Maday's seventh place finish in the Hammer.

The 4 x 400 team of Krause, Gatton, Clay Wimmer and Thane Widmer zipped to a fourth place ending while the 4 x 100 contingent of Wimmer, Widmer, Nathan Huss and Sam Yankey came in sixth.

Next year, the MIAC track and field world will be at Klas Field as Hamline will be the host school.
