1/16/2016 8:22:00 AM

There was a bit of the old and a lot of the new on display for the Hamline women's Track & Field team in their season opener Friday at the St. Thomas Invitational. When the results were in, the Pipers could definitely say they gave their foes a run for their money.

Freshman Gabrielle Brown made a terrific inaugural effort. The St. Paul, Minn. native was second in the 60 Hurdles to senior Carolyn Saulsberry and placed third in the 200 Meters. In the former race, Saulsberry stretched her legs to win in 9.19 seconds with Brown close behind at 9.25.

Marissa Fiecke also had a debut to cherish. The Howard Lake, Minn. first year runner strode to victory in the 400 Meters in 1:01.45. Alyssa Nash, a sophomore, ran a strong second place in the Mile, checking in at 5:52.89.

The meet was unscored.  For complete meet results, click here.

The Pipers compete again January 22 in a triangular at St. Olaf.
