Hamine's 2-4-8 finish in the Shot Put stood out on the first day of the MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Meet. The Piper women registered 14 points to stand tied for eighth place after the first day of competition at Macalester College.
Jessica Putland came in second in the Shot Put (44-09) with
Erin Urbanowicz placing fourth (42-09.75) and
Jerri Koltveit coming in eighth in one of just five finals held Friday (see picture).
Carolyn Saulsberry led the Piper runners who were competing for spots in Saturday's finals. The junior had the top time of the day in the 100 Meter Hurdles (14.98 seconds). The 4 x 100 relay team of
Khadijah Pierce, Danielle Zwiefelhofer (pictured),
Mikayla Hensch and
Izzy Shafer qualified for the finals as well, finishing in 50 seconds flat.
For complete first day results, click here. There are five women's field events finals Saturday -- Hammer, Pole Vault, High Jump, Discus and Triple Jump. On the running side, HU will compete in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase, 5000 Meters, 4 x 400 relays as well as the events they qualified for. The action starts at 2:00 p.m.
