HU Women's Track/Field Team Shines at Meet of UnSaintly

5/3/2015 10:22:00 AM

The HU women's track and field team had plenty of reason to feel good about their last warmup to this week's MIAC Outdoor Meet. Carolyn Saulsberry won a pair of events and there were 11 other top five finishes for the Pipers at the annual Meet of the UnSaintly held at Klas Field May 1-2.

Saulsberry, a junior, blitzed the field in the 100 Hurdles, winning in 15.02 seconds, which ties for the top time by a MIACer this spring. She also leapt the field in the Triple Jump besting her previous top performance with a 37-06.50 effort. This also broke a 11-year old school record, besting Christine Walsten's 37-6 performance in 2004.  The Minneapolis native also placed fourth in the Long Jump.

But she was hardly alone in excelling on this sunswept day.

The meet was unscoring but Hamline made their points with performances like:
  • Jessica Putland, who was second in the Shot Put (44-02.75)
  • Erin Urbanowicz, who was second in the Hammer (165-10) and third in the Shot Put
  • Jerri Koltveit, a fourth place finisher in the Discus and fifth place finisher in the Shot Put
  • The 4 x 400 Relay team of Andrea Haus, Brianna Baker, Kristy Dellwo and Saulsberry, who were second in 4:03.63
In addition, the 4 x 100 and a second 4 x 400 relay teams had fourth place finishes. The 4 x 100 team of Khadijah Pierce, Danielle Zwiefelhofer, Miklaya Hensch and Izzy Shafer tied a school record with a 49.75 clocking.
