Men's Track/Field Runs Up Excellent Results

5/3/2015 10:00:00 AM

It was a beautiful day to run, throw, vault, leap and jump. And the HU men's track/field team took advantage of it to produce many solid efforts in their last warmup to this week's MIAC Outdoor Meet. The Pipers won three events and had 22 top five finishes at the Meet of the UnSaintly held May 1-2 at Klas Field. Tom Larson (100 Meters), Jordan Steward (Triple Jump) and Anthony Tyler (Discus) finished first in their respective events in the non-scoring meet.

Larson, a junior, has recorded the fastest times in the MIAC this spring in the 100 and 200 Meters. His time of 10.88 in the 100 was just a tenth of a second of his best effort of the spring. Although he finished third in the 200, his 21.97 clocking shaved another .25 off his previous top effort.

Steward had his best jump of the spring, winning in 43-06.50 (tied for second best in the MIAC this spring). Tyler increased his league best throwing number by 11 feet, winning with a 165-11 heave.

HU had two second place finishers who were the top D-III competitors in their race. Issac Krause ran 1:54.17 in the 800 Meters and Eric Hanson clocked a 15.49 in the 110 Hurdles. Jacob Pederson was second to Stward in the Triple Jump and Chase Duwenhoegger was second in the Shot Put.
