It was the first full fledged indoor track tests of the season. And the Hamline men's track and field team fared very well. Going up against a talented field that included Division II schools, the Pipers had a pair of firsts and three second place finishes at the St. Thomas Invitational, January 23.Â
Tom Larson sped to victory in the 55 Meters in 6.64 seconds.
Isaac Krause also claimed a win in the 600 Meters (1:25.66). HU got second place finishes from
Ryan Peterson in the Mile Run (4:21.05 -15th best among D-III runners in the country),
Mark Volker in the Pole Vault (14-07.25) and
Joey Grussing in the Weight Throw (54-04.75- 18th rated nationally). Other impressive first time out efforts included
Will Warmka's third place finish in the 400 Meters (51.24) and
Joe Matheson's fifth place effort in the Pole Vault (13-07.25). The 4 x 400 Relay team also claimed a fifth place standing.Â
