HU gymnastics coach
Doug Byrnes the first few meets of the season are a yardstick -- a chance to see where his team lines up.
He liked what he saw in his team's first competition of the year. The Pipers dropped a 181.275-179.325 decision to UW-Oshkosh Saturday at Walker Fieldhouse. But that total of points is one of the best first meet scores in school history. More importantly, a lot of competitors were seeing their first college action ever.
Olivia Kressler, a freshman won the Floor Exercise competition with a score of 9.375. Two other newcomers --
Erika Briscoe and
Alexa Vorderbruggen -- finished third and fifth respectively. Another freshman --
Sela Fadness -- claimed third place in the Balance Beam and in the Vault.
The veterans chipped in, too.
Alexis Nault was a close second on the Uneven Parallel Bars (she missed first place by .025) and
Briana Bridgeford checked in fourth.
Jacklyn Clement was fourth in the Vault.
