With the MIAC outdoor championships now less than a month away, the Piper track and field teams are starting to round into championship form.

After weather knocked them out of a midweek appearance, HU sent several competitors to Carleton Saturday to sharpen their focus for the MIAC meet.

Marolyn Saulsberry edged her sister Carolyn by less than a second in a memorable 100 Meter Hurdles duel. Marolyn finished first in a time of 14.58 seconds with Carolyn right behind at 14.624. Marolyn lowered her school record time by .08 seconds. (Carolyn's time would also have broken the old mark of 14.66).

Later, Carolyn finished third in the Long Jump with a 16-6 effort. Overall, the women placed fifth out of eight teams with 43 points.

On the men's side, Andrew Ferguson, Eric Hanson and Anthony Tyler finished third in their respective events. Ferguson was clocked at 56.03 seconds in the 400 M Hurdles. Hanson turned in a 15.32 time in the 110 M Hurdles while Tyler threw the discus 145-6.  Hamline's overall point total of 48 was good for sixth place in the 10 team field.
