The MIAC Indoor Track and Field meet is still a month away. But the Hamline Pipers women's team is already showing it intends to be a serious competitor for individual and team honors.

The Pipers had four first place and five second place finishes en route to coming in second to host Carleton at the annual Meet of Hearts Invitational in Northfield.

Hamline finished with 123.33 points, besting St. Olaf, Gustavus Adolphus, Luther and Augsburg.

Jessica Putland continued to excel in Field events. The junior took the Shot Put with a throw of 13.40 meters. She came right back and did the same thing in the Weight Throw with a 15.48m performance. (Teammate Erin Urbanowicz was second at 14.85).

The Pipers had a very good day in the field. Carolyn Saulsberry flew 10.79m to claim honors in the Triple Jump. The sophomore was busy on the track as well. She ran a speedy 8.72 in the 55 Meter Hurdles. Her sister Marolyn also had a very good day, coming in second in the 200 Meters and later in the 600 Meters.

The quartet of the Saulsberrys, Andrea Haus and Brianna Baker copped top honors in the 4 x 400 Meter Relay. Haus finished third in the 1000 Meter Relay. Hope Hertz did likewise in the 200 Meter Relay. Baker, Hertz, Marolyn Saulsberry and Gabby Hoel were second in the 4 x 200 Relay.
